EL DORADO, Kan. – A body found in Kansas appears to be that of a missing college student who led a secret life as an Internet porn star, police said Thursday.
Authorities said the preliminary physical description of the body found about 50 miles
east of El Dorado matches that of missing college student Emily Sander.
Sander, 18, was last seen leaving an El Dorado bar Friday with a man who has been the focus of a nationwide search since police found large quantities of blood in a Kansas motel room where he was staying.
Prior to finding the body, investigators said they had not found a link between Sander and her activities as an online porn star named Zoey Zane. But publicity about her explicit photos brought a flood of tips, many of them false leads.
“No tips were generated from it,” Police Chief Tom Boren said.
Sander, who attended Butler Community College, left the bar with Israel Mireles, 24. Authorities are looking for him and his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend.
The rental car Mireles was driving was found abandoned Tuesday in Vernon, Texas, where he has relatives. Investigators interviewed family members and planned to bring the vehicle back to Kansas for processing.
“We feel they know where he is at, but they haven’t shared that with us,” Boren said.
On Thursday, searchers on foot and all-terrain vehicles were checking the tall grass along each side of Highway 54 near Neal, Kan., as they traced the route Mireles may have taken Saturday on the way to Baxter Springs to pick up his girlfriend.
So far searches using dogs, planes, underwater equipment and divers at the Walnut River dam have yielded no new evidence.
“We have about exhausted a lot of the resources we have until we can focus on a particular area,” Boren said.
Dozens of people gathered Wednesday in El Dorado for a candlelight vigil for Sander.
The turnout moved her grandfather, Clement Sander, who said Emily Sander’s disappearance shows tragedy can suddenly strike anyone.
“All I can say to you young folks out there is be careful,” he said. “It is a cruel
world.”

TMZ reports that Heath Ledger was found dead in SoHo, NYC apartment yesterday afternoon. PageSix.com reports that he died from a drug overdose.
The NY Times reports that a masseuse showed up to the apartment for an appointment at 3:31 this afternoon. The masseuse and a housekeeper knocked on Heath’s bedroom door, but did not get any answer. They opened the door and found him unconscious. They immediately called for an ambulance. They apparently found prescription pills next to his body. When paramedics arrived, they performed CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was 28. He was one 2-year-old daughter, Matilda, with Michelle Williams.
WTF! I don’t even know to say. Fucking sad and tragic!

UPDATE II: The pills were reportedly over-the-counter medication, possibly Ambien.
UPDATE III: It was not MK’s apartment, but apparently she lives in the building.
UPDATE IV: MK does not live in the building! That’s cleared up. Heath’s autopsy will be conducted tomorrow. Police say two bottles of sleeping pills were found near his body, one OTC and one prescription.
UPDATE V: In a recent interview Heath talked about how his role as the “Joker” in the new Batman movie was so demonic to him that he had trouble sleeping. Friends also say he had a substance abuse problem, but he had not been in rehab.

Mexican authorities held off on arresting Mireles until they were assured of the legitimacy of Kansas prosecutors’ case, Satterfield said.Satterfield said her office had to promise Mexican authorities that it would not seek the death penalty for Mireles.

For those who haven’t been watching the news…An 18 Yr old solo nude
model was found dead Nov 29th. The worst part of this story is that
the media took the fact that she posed nude and blew the story way out
of proportion to make it seem like she deserve what she got simply
because she was an adult entertainer. Until the suspect is caught we
will never know the true story of what happened that night, but does
anyone deserve to publicly humiliated because of their life choices??
If a gay man is murdered tomorrow does his sexuality justify the
killer’s decision to take his life away?
It really makes me sick that the media would do this willing her
family is indulged in so much grief. Instead of highlighting her
faults why don’t they recognize that she was doing it to pay for her
education so she could return to her family and make a living??
